[To Begin with]
My neighborhood, Silim is situated in a commercial area with a number of studio apartment buildings.
I have been sick and tired of rubbish in the city.
Everywhere is full of garbage.
I always hope I can develop a project which raises public awareness of environmental problems and let people actively get involved in eco-friendly campaigns.
[Explore and Empathize]
The causes why the streets were filled with garbage were that there have been a lack of information, infrastructure, and no will of people to act.
Where is a designated place to throw away?
There is no place for recyclable garbage or general waste and even no trash cans in Seoul.
A lack of information.
A lack of information how to divide trash into food waste, general waste or recyclable ones.
Citizens are reluctant to follow the rules.
People do not feel guilty about littering, and they say there are no alternatives.
[Envisage]
Three ideas were developed to heighten public awareness and make people actively participate in this campaign.
The campaign which was motivated by gamification is called "Trash Go!"
Participants are able to get a reward through eco-friendly activities, also having fun and experiencing a helper's high.
New design for trash bag which is aesthetic, practical and harmonious with surroundings.
A way to fulfill a lack of information: A poster about a way of handling garbage and waste disposal and a website for detailed information.
